About This Project

Psyche Electro-Acoustic Opera is an innovative Miami-based production entity, dedicated to the creation of new musical dramas powered by state-of-the-art multimedia technology. Passionate about creating sophisticated and inspiring experiences for south Florida's audiences, Psyche exclusively features and commissions the work of the most innovative electro-acoustic composers, performers, choreographers and multimedia artists from Miami. Contemporary instrumentation and modern multimedia systems allow Psyche’s artists to convert any space into a vibrant performance venue, which serves to keep its top-quality work accessible to the entire audience. “Virgen María” was composed in October 2001, inspired by a poetic prayer addressing the Virgin Mary written by Jose Martí and included in one of his timeless works: Versos Sencillos. The poet’s prayer pleads for the healing of a broken land riddled with injustice, hate, and revolution. Originally written for two voices and piano, composer Liza Seigido expanded the song's instrumentation to include modern synth flavors and an alto saxophone, masterfully executed by Lawrence W. Moore. Although this piece is now 15 years old, its message resonates now more than ever before. Liza Seigido: Vocals, synths. Lawrence W. Moore: Alto saxophone. Recorded and mixed by Liza Seigido & Lawrence W. Moore. Mastered by Carlos Santos Györi at Polaris Studios.
